Today I am in Portland, Oregon to construct the table for my exhibition.
My husband, Nate and father-in-law, Mike are helping me. Mike is a contractor who is generously providing the use of his workshop.
I have to admit I was hoping to do a bit more Industrial Design prototyping and using the workshop and tools of Emily Carr while I’ve been here. The masters course has kept me pretty busy. I did learn lots of ID tools and processes so I am by no means walking away empty-handed.
It was a great day. I love these hands-on opportunities. Sadly, other than one sculpture class in college I haven’t taken wood shop since middle school. Power tools are so fun. Needless to say, for everyone’s safety, I am certainly glad to have Mike’s expertise for this project!
